Overview/Priority

Our mission is to develop new, grassroots leadership in the African-American communities in Mississippi and the surrounding region through a comprehensive training and technical assistance program.

The Case for the Campaign

The case for the Campaign for Southern Echo is the case for Social justice in Mississippi and throughout the Southeast region.  It is the context of Southern Echo’s work:  the opportunity for African-Americans, Latinos, and low wealth white communities, to have the information, skills, and organization they need to participate effectively in the formation of public policy at every level of government.  Recent events include the following (please turn off pop-up blocker to view links):

2004 Spring Trainings, "Dismantling the Achievement Gap" Conference, 2004 Fall Trainings,

Development of the MS Demography Group, & Prevention of Schoolhouse to Jailhouse.

Giving to the Campaign

The Campaign for Southern Echo offers individuals, businesses, organizations, and foundations a range of opportunities to partner with us as we continue to advance the empowerment of local communities through the development of effective leadership and unified community organizations.  This private investment will provide suitable and affordable space for residential training activities, an office, and a research library appropriate for the 21st century.

Southern Echo needs the commitment of every supporter and friend to help meet the goals for the capital and endowment campaign.  Click here to download Southern Echo's Capital & Endowment Campaign pledge card, and mail the completed card to:
